Role Overview

SSN Corporation is seeking a motivated Construction Material Testing (CMT) Field Engineering Technician for its Raleigh, North Carolina office to support field inspections and construction material testing on commercial, residential and infrastructure projects. The technician will be responsible for conducting field testing, documenting observations, collecting samples, and ensuring construction activities comply with project specifications and applicable standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality field services.

Key Responsibilities

Perform field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and other construction materials.
Conduct soil density testing, concrete sampling, slump, air content, temperature, and compressive strength testing.
Observe site conditions and verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
Collect field samples and deliver them to the laboratory for testing.
Accurately document field observations, test results, and daily activities.
Prepare field reports using company software and submit reports promptly.
Communicate project findings with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
Follow ASTM, AASHTO, ICC, and project-specific testing standards.
Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all company safety policies.
Perform other field engineering and inspection duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and job site conditions.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
Ability to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds.
Ability to travel to construction sites throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area and surrounding regions.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on construction sites.

Requirements

High school diploma (+2) or higher education.
Minimum 2 years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) field experience.
Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (required).
ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician- Grade I Certification (required).
OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
Ability to read construction drawings and project specifications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
NCDOT certifications are a strong plus.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
